Floor shifter cable on transmission has broke

I have a 87 Monte Carlo LS 350 motor with floor shifter the shifter cable has broke on me this is the fifth one now that I'm on. The actual process of removing the cable is pretty simple really but installing the new one is been a pain. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it. I don't have the money right now to take it to a shop. It's the factory transmission 4 speed TH-200 4R.
