Tv turns on back light only

Block Image

I took photos of the back of the TV circuit boards.

I have a LG 60pz950 Plasma 5 years old was working fine then one day turned on the tv and you see the tv is on but no picture and also if you select tv source etc nothing shows on the tv screen you would usually see the tv menu. I ended up buying a new TV. Do you think its worth getting this repaired? I spent 2k on this new tv. The LG was $1500. I have been checking these groups to see if I can repair it myself. Thanks

I added photos of the circuit boards

I added the tv screen turned on showing the screen gray image when turned on.

by

I added the repair kit besides the fuse I do not see the other parts on the board to replace.

by

I will take the board off and take photos of both sides. Thanks

@xxnonamexx sounds like an issue with the Y-sus/Z-sus board. Here is a flowchart and some testing methods that should help you out to diagnose the issue. You may have slightly different boards but the points should still be the same.

Personally I'd go with the Z-sus board. Your first image shows your Z-sus board. The number for that is EAX64232101 but seems to be a bit hard to come by right now. There are repair services that may fix the board for around $60USD or you can try and purchase the repair kit for the board for around $20USD

@xxnonamexx check under the heatsink.

I purchased the repair kit you mentioned. I should perform the testing methods before I decide which repair part to replace? I am just trying to understand the charts you sent. Do I need to remove the board before I test? I noticed the images appear to test the green soldered side of the board.

by

That is correct. If you have the repair kit I would go ahead and solder those parts in place even without testing the board.

I have the repair kit and I see the fuse part but the other parts that came with the kit I cannot find. One is like a white sheet with tiny circuits and the other are black prongs with metal posts. I posted the photos above they say the location but I can't match them up.

by

@xxnonamexx looks like they belong to the Z-sus board. I marked teh location on the image. Mopst likely you will have to remove the heatsink. The "black prongs with metal posts" are MOSFET power transistors. The other items are 12 SMD resistors. They could be on the underside of the board. We wiould need some clearer pictures of both sides of the Z-SUS board. Pretty small and you may need to use a microscope to solder those. :-)

I think I was looking at the Ysus board. Let me check the Zsus board and check underneath. Thanks I will let you know.
