Having never field stripped a Samsung LNT4053H LED before, I'm a little nervous about going in. Can you direct me to some instructions for accessing the power board?

@tcebob LNT4053H disassembly this should work for you. the power board is the light brown board. Post some images of what you see with your question. For that use this guide.
