Will not boot up - making clicking noise

I changed the hard drive but the noise continues. It is like something is moving and going back and forth, back and forth. With a new hard drive, what else could the problem be?

I have also attempted to start the MBP with the hard drive removed and got the same sound. So it is not the hard drive. The sound is the same with or without the hard drive. Thanks

I made another attempt and it appears that the clicking sounds are coming from the DVD drive

the lDVD aser tries to read but it seems bad?
