My reachability function is not working after screen/digitizer instal

Hi,

I recently installed a new screen digitizer and home button using a kit I bought on Amazon. It was a complete set all in one, all I had to do is plug in the ribbon cables. Now my home button works good except for the reachability function. When I double tap on the home button nothing happens . The reachability function is turned on under my settings. Has anybody else experienced this problem and what is the solution. Reachability is a function that brings down the screen so you can reach it with your thumb. My original home button is toast. So I can't reinstall it.

Thanks for the help I really appreciate it

It's because the original home button is linked to the board. The home button from the old screen needs to be taken off and put on the new one.

The new home button will work however there will be no touchID / fingerprint scan function (unless the old home button is used) which is what the reachability function uses.

So, if my old home button is not working (the Ribon is torn) there is no way to use the Reachability function with a new home botton. Thanks

Yes, that is correct unfortunately. It is however possible to solder a new home button wire but that is extremely difficult to do (as in almost impossible).
