Can I use speakers from a tower in my car?

Can I use the 10" mtx speakers I pulled out of my "mtx monitor 10 series" floor speakers and put them in a dual subwoofer enclosure, powered by a 1100 watt mono block amp? Each speaker has "DCR 4.0 OHM" printed on the magnet as well as "W250OF" which I'm guessing means there 250 watt speakers( not totally convinced. The floor speakers are rated at 500 watts each and contain a 10" woofer a 6.5" mid and 3" tweeter,, so I assume the 10" speakers are somewhere between 2 and 3 hundred watt speakers. I'm very unsure if these 10's are gonna work cuz there made for house power, not battery power.

Chosen Solution

First, I assume that those woofers are not actually subwoofers which have a different characteristic response to a subwoofer amp in terms of performance. But it may serve the purpose in a controlled setup. Since it is a mono block amp, try connecting the woofers in series to maximize power capability as they are already overpowered by this amp. Try it and fine tune with your audio control settings, bass specifically and see how far in the volume that it can deliver a clean bass without being over driven. It should work, just don't expect a subwoofer kind of blow.

Roel,, did as you suggested, ran in series. Works perfectly. Sounds is exceptional, coming from separated sealed enclosures. Bass hits hard, deep and clear.,running at 3/4 power more then enough for my reg. cab super duty. Actually impressive for 2 10's. Thanks for the advice!!
