@yoohoo what model is your TV? what have you checked?

by

I have an LG TV. In the Spring/Summer, the screen reverts to zoom, cutting off the sides of image and crops tops of heads on many channels. In the winter months, it changes back to a beautiful normal picture size. Adjusting aspect ratio doesn't do anything. Comcast couldn't correct.

@Dallas Howcroft ,

What is the make and model number of the TV?

Did you try any of the solutions in the answers below, you didn't say what you've tried, if anything?

It’s your cable provider. Example if you have time Warner, charter, etc go to menu then screen size and turn zoom 1 off...use stretch and should fix the issue.

brilliant, dude. Thanks. I was about to throw a rock through my TV.

by

I wouldn’t do that. Lol. Glad it fixed your issue.

Thank you Jonathan Levy! I kept trying to adjust it under the TV settings, and it was under the cable provider settings. I have DirecTV, so it wasn’t exactly the same, but you gave me where to go to fix it.

by

I went under Directv display and switched between widescreen and standard and it didn't make a difference. Is there someplace else I need to look? I'm having the same problem with words being cut off.

Jonathan Levy, THANK YOU!!!!!

You could go to the settings menu then to picture. It should have a mode or size category. I doubt that your aspect ratio is off so you shouldn't adjust that setting. Also. The newer HD TV's have built in memory's for each cable port. So, if you changed what ever was plugged into the port you are using now, that would explain the changed picture size. You can usually go to the manufacturer web site and download a free cy of the user manual. He this solves you're problems.

If you have a TWC remote, press settings on your remote. A menu should appear. Use the left arrow that is near the top. Scroll the menu at the bottom of the screen to the left till you see high definition . A screen will appear one of the choices will be picture size. Use the blue select/ok button to select picture size. Another screen will appear and it will say zoom, normal and stretch . Scroll to normal and select it. This should solve your problem. Other cable companies remotes should be similar . You usually can do the same using your Tv remote. I hope this helps.

I have the same problem and have a comcast remote

by

Hi @hygo

If you have a set top box connecting to the comcast service have you checked the aspect ratio settings in there to see if they match what your TV screen is?

by

Yes. The picture is zoomed and i cant get it to normal.

by

Hi, @hygo

Just clarifying. I meant have you checked the aspect ratio setting (hopefully there is one in the one of the setup menus of the set top box) to see if it is set to normal, usually 16:9?

by

Not sure how to find it

I have charter. Same problem, couldn't fix it with tv remote, had to use the charter remote.

  1. Leave tv on, press cable button on remote and then power, this shuts off cable box.
  2. Press menu key
  3. First line showed 4.3 setting, I changed it to 16.9
  4. Second line showed HDMI cable at 480, I changed it to 1080.
  5. Hit power button again, this should turn the tv back on.
  6. Fixed my problem.
  7. I think you also can call charter and tgey can help walk you through it.

I didn't even know about the settings on my charter box until researching on the internet. I contacted insignia, they told me by using the cable box it overrides the tv settings.

Hope this helps

@flowers ,

Did you check the picture "aspect" options available in the provider's "box" menu areas that the TV is connected to, to see if changing them corrects the picture.

Did you try pressing the "ratio" button on the TV remote control unit to check if this improves the view?
