How to replace cracked glass on a Canon 50d

I have a Canon 50d with a cracked display window. The LCD is undamaged and aside from the cracked glass, the camera works fine. How can I replace the glass and how much would it cost?

Thanks for your reply. I found similar information on line but was afraid to tackle replacement. Was looking for a repair center and the cost of their repair.

Camera still working... will leave well enough alone for a while.

Thanks again for your reply.

@hossc No problem! I don't be afraid to tackle the repair when you need it. It looks like plenty of people are doing the quick fix with ease. Good luck!

Hi Bruce !

If you complete this repair yourself, you should upload a guide and share your fix! I did some digging and found a few resources for your repair...

It looks like the replacement glass is fairly inexpensive. Check out the ones I found here.

You can also follow this guide or the technique this person used to replace the glass. Looks like all you'll need is a suction cup, prying tool, and possibly some heat from something like an iOpener or heat gun to help soften the adhesive on the cracked glass. But don't use too much heat! You wouldn't want to damage the LCD beneath the glass.

Hope this helps!
