What voltage does the battery give out?

Good evening, Im trying to do a small project in my computer, I was wondering, out of all the cables in the battery port, which one is the positive and ground wire. And what voltage do they have? I need between 9-18 volts for my project. Thank you.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Erick never a good ideas to try to tap power from the battery. Of course that will depend on your project. Willing to share what you are thinking off?

Sure. Well I'm thinking in connecting a 12v pump to the computer. So I was thinking in connecting directly to the battery. But I was also thinking maybe have extra 12v batteries to connect to the pump, and maybe even have a small port sticking out to charge them whenever I charge my MacBook pro as well. The pump is small, so it'll be on the optical bay. And the radiator would be attached to the computer lid. And I already have slim coppe tubes and plastic ones to have the water go through.

Your battery supplies 10.95V but I am sure there is a buck converter somewhere on the logic board. Just need to find a proper way of getting the power from there to your pump. You are going to use it in your optical drive bay? Trying to pump the water through the MBP? Have you considered to come of the MagSafe board instead the battery?

Good point. I was also planning that. Im going to use piled up button batteries to 12v. And in all to have enough energy for at least 4 hours. So I was also thinking connecting it to the MagSafe connector so that when I connect my computer, it would charge the batteries so I can still use my pump. And yes, Im trying to watercool my MacBook Pro. It's an insane project. Because there is so little space in the machine and also there are so many different ways it can go wrong.

If you want to use button batteries you are going to need to develop a charging circuit and a PCB for that. If you do not develop that your batteries will either undercharge or over charge and blow your MBP up. You will also have to develop a circuit that sense where the power comes from i.e. battery or MBP and switch source accordingly.
