Corrupt screen with white border

The screen looks mostly normal but maybe 1/5 of the screen is white with lines flickering through. I don't know if the digitizer just needs to be replaced or what.

Digitizer is the touch screen of the iPad and is part of the glass. Sometimes reseating, cleaning the LCD cable might fix the issue. I think 4th gen LCD requires replacing as it is most likely damaged and LCD cable isn't replaceable as it's ribbon cable.

My odds are: 50% LCD cable, 50% LCD. I can't think of a good reason the LCD flex would be go bad without reason, but it very well could have. One drop or bump could have knocked out part of the LCD.

Either way, the repair is the same since like you said, the flex is bonded to the LCD. A replacement LCD is less than $30 and it includes the cable. Slap a new one on and you should be up and running. If not, please report back.

Good luck
