What happened to the sound when I plug in my earbuds?

I was lisening to my music when I heard a poping noise. Then I couldn't hear my music unless I turned my volume up all the way. A first I thought it was my ear buds but when I puged them into a diffrent divce they worked just fine, I then checked to make sure my speaker was alright on the tablet. It was fine, just fine I could put it back down to the normal setting of volume and be fine. The only thing is when I plug my ear buds. Does anyone know what's going on?
