Why has the camera locked up?

Camera is frozen. Screen is on (special effects/image mode) & lens extended. Camera will not turn off or respond to menu, playback or directional keys. What do I do to un-freeze /unlock it?

Didn't see any answers, so I simply opened the battery/SD compartment and removed SD chip then battery. Put them right back in and everything is working again as it was before it locked up.

The best solution is using a SD Memory Card with great data transfer rate, like Sandisk Extreme Pro 95MB/s.

After change SD Memory, the camera has not been frozen or made this issue! Hope it help.

My memory card is a SanDisk Extreme 64 GB with "45 MB/s" on the label. Is this really too slow for photographing my dogs in the Scene Sport mode of my Nikon CoolPIX P950? It may be time for a faster card.
