@toodles1234 you are not giving us a whole lot to work with here. Which part of the ignition timing are you interested in? How to set the timing? To check it? Did your remove the timing gear?

@toodles1234 to set your timing do this"

Connect a timing light to the engine.

Start the engine and let it idle.

(22R-E, 22R-TE) Short terminal T and E1 of the check connector. Check the ignition timing.

Ignition timing:

22R-E, 22R-TE 5°BTDC @ idle.

If necessary, loosen the distributor bolt and turn the distributor to align the marks. Recheck the timing after tighting the distributor bolt.

(22R-E, 22R-TE)

Remove the jumper on the check connector.

Check that ignition timing advances to 10°- 14°BTDC .

What is timing reading BTDC at 1,000 rpm for good engine. And timing reading BTDC at 2,000 rpm, please? Timing mark reading for BTDC at 3,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm and 5,000 rpm. A lot of smog system with vacuum advance system to the distributor also with centrifugal advance timing set. It is the reason - is to stay with the graph of table to follow the program which follow the rule applying specific BDTC timing for each spec. rpm. Thank you.
