start with simple - the spark plug could be fouled, so try a new spark plug, or a spark tester - that spark should jump an 1/8 inch gap easily. Check the engine kill switch for proper function, and if it's a single wire ground to kill setup, make sure that wire isn't grounded anywhere else. Beyond that, you need to test the coil for opens or shorts (resistance check) and/or test fire the coil. Test the ignition pickup so you know the ignition is being told to fire at the correct time. If all the module inputs and outputs are ok, then the module (sometimes called an igniter) is quite possibly junk.
