@jakkals could be caused by a bad inverter, bad power board, failed backlight or failed panel. Post some images of what you see with your question. Use this guide Also, you will have to at least let us know what model your TV is.

This TV is a sanyo 55 inch. Numbers on the back of TV is as follows dp55d44. And p55d44_00 my TV picture is ok but somehow one half is dim and other half showing normal.
