Help with motherboard soldering (battery pry damage)

Hello guys!

I accidentally broke 2 components by removing the battery, Q3 and U3 ( Broke off small jumpers when prying battery out of iPhone.. )

I'm planning to solder them back but I would like some advise before. (Both solding pads seems okay)

I have a spare iphone 5 where I can salvage the 2 cms chips.

My questions are :

How do I remove them without breaking them, and which tools do I need to put them back?

I have a hot plate that I usually use to remove glass from a lcd which maybe could be usefull?

I have also a soldering iron but it's not meant to be use with cms.

Because this phone is not mine I would like to do it ASAP.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

The cheapest and fastest way is to use a hot air station. Practice on the donor board to see what temperature at low to medium airflow can let you remove and re-solder such small components as every station is different.

You apply flux, hold with tweezers, heat with hot air, remove when loose. Follow the opposite steps to solder.

Isolate around the components with Kapton tape and/or some sort of heat shields.

You should practice a lot before doing it or you risk ruining the board. Since you say that you don't have much time, and if you find after practicing that it's not yet properly done, then you may want to avoid a bigger mess and take it to someone who can solder it for you. For someone with experience and proper tools it is pretty straightforward. Note that applying too much hot air for longer than necessary can easily kill other components and may be the whole board. Back it up before you proceed.

I agree with Rany this is not a easy task and takes some skill when trying to perform micro soldering on iPhone. But everything Rany said is exactly how to do the repair. Good luck and let us know how it goes.
