Why are Xperia LCDs not refurbished by Chinese?

Hi everybody!

A friend and I are currently studying the possibility to set up a small smartphones/tablets reparation shop in our town.

Like all the wannabe repairers, we are currently "trying hard" to understand something about the very shadowy spare part market…

We've got a big pending question mark: why are virtually only LCDs for Apple and some high-level Samsung references refurbished in China (and not only in China nowadays, given the number of people that seems got involved in that business!)?

We don't get why there is such a little offer (competitively priced in particular) for mid-market phones refurbished LCDs (Sony, LG, Huawei, etc).

The same on Youtube! Try to find videos on "how to refurbish a Sony Xperia Z5 LCD" for instance, there are no or very little, while every second dude explains you how to refurbish an iPhone 4, 5, 6.

Is that because it’s not possible, I mean that the LCDs of these phones are of too poor quality to withstand the refurbishing process?

Or is that just a cost to selling price criteria, or said differently, refurbishing the LCD for those models is too expensive when comparing the reparation cost to the original price of the device or to the price constructors sell themselves new official spare parts?

Thank you very much in advance for your answers, I think you’re going to help a full bunch of newbies like us :D

Take care!

@kvo94 it is possible to refurbish any screen but why would they if there is no profit. Samsung and iPhones are much more lucrative and nobody would be paying more for a display than the phone is worth. Since you are just going to start out and seem to have plenty of question, I suggest you check this part of ifixit out. That is where the "pro's" hang out. Here, on Answers, you only find us mere volunteers....

Thanks for your feedback Turkey.

Am I wrong or we need to have an already registered business to join the Pro section of the website?

If yes, it unfortunately won't help us that much :(

We want to sort out all our questions/issues in order to get a clear business plan before funding the company and going through all the mandatory administrative costs/crappy procedures...

Understandable I guess! :D
