Anyone know what I should do about my Iphone5s that doesn't ring, play music, etc.? Audio only works if I have headphones plugged in. A phone technician told me I would probably need to get a new phone - ugh! I tried a few suggestions I found when I googled this issue, but none of them worked. I'd love your help! Thank you.

Sounds like the speakers are probably dead, here is the guide if you want to repair it yourself. Speaker Replacment Otherwise it's probably time for a new phone.

Thanks again. Is it possible to buy some kind of small external speaker to plug into my phone so I could hear it ring? (I am not handy and the repair sounds involved.)
Just about any speaker should work, but I do not know if the iPhone will ring through the speaker.
Someone recently told me that they suspect the speakers are totally fine and that my phone thinks it's in dock mode when it's not. What do you make of that 16457m? Thank you so much for the help! I really appreciate your insights.
That's a possibility, to fix that you would probably need to do a factory reset, make sure you back up all of your data first though!!
