On the tour now. Stopped to have lunch and put the activity on pause. 10 mins later, the recorded activity vanished. Anyone know how I can retrieve it

I doubt that it could be recovered.

Still you could look and see for yourself. If you plug it in to a computer and navigate to the drive using Windows Explorer or Finder, you will see a Garmin folder. Inside that folder is an Activities folder. This is where the activity .fit files are stored.

That only works if it's been recorded - not if you ignored the run by accident - for some reason, it seems to automatically go to 'do you want to save this run' & then 'no' (even though the 'yes' is far bigger on the screen). I wish I hadn't bought this Garmin now, as I keep losing runs. My old Garmin didn't work this way & I never lost a run by accident. It drives me insane - some runs you want to save for the route or because you ran a PB & losing them is so frustrating. I must have lost about 10 runs in 9 months, which isn't a huge number given how much I run, but I have nearly lost about half of all my runs, because it will auto-pause or auto go to the 'do you want to delete this?' screen.

Agreed! I just deleted the fastest of my 400m reps so now will have to repeat them at another session. Not an intuitive design feature.

Same here - what a ridiculous mechanism to make that even possible.

It drives me mad that my vivoactive 3 doesn’t have a screen lock. Normally it deletes any activity I do in the rain because the rain sets the screen off. Even if I cover it with my coat, the rain on my coat can delete an activity. Today I went out & it wasn’t a great run, because it’s 115 degrees here, but I ran a new route & wanted to record it, but putting my flask back in my bag deleted it. I wish there were a way of a) recovering things (like a trash function) or b) not deleting activities but deciding not to sync them. That would be a far better way of managing it.
