Why do I have poor reception on my S6?

I have a new Galaxy S6, my second one, and the phone reception often is broken up, like part of every word is missing. My first one was the same way. I have it in an Otterbox Defender case. Out of the case, it seems to have the same problem, but maybe not as frequent or severe. Is poor signal strength a known issue with these phones? Is there a signal booster available?

Did you try to deactivate the LTE and try just with 3G?

I have to admit ignorance here. Is that the "network mode"? Right now it is set to "global". My other choices under Mobile Networks are LTE/CDMA and LTE/GSM/UMTS. Don't know what any of those stand for.

You probably want LTE/CDMA rather than global. @exfour
