I could not, as it kept telling me not enough space.

I moved what i could do a separate drive, but I still could not.

Very disappointed in buying this model.

Try going to settings and do a factory reset. Just back up all of your data first.

If you dont mind loosing the windows 8.1 recovery/install partition then you can boot from a drive with windows 10 by holding down one of the function keys when you turn it on (usually f10 or f12).

The best way to upgrade to Windows 10 is to do a clean install. first, backup your data off of the hard drive. Make a list of applications you use and do a pre install check to see if the apps are compatible with Win 10, the pre install check tool is on Microsoft website and can confirm the hardware as well.

It works best to either copy Windows 10 image onto a USB thumb drive (32 GB or bigger). When starting Windows 10 installation, choose to format the hard drives to have as much space as possible. After installation, run the updates then install your apps. After the apps are installed and updates are done, then copy your data to the new profile folder under USERS with your name on it. It is better to have a separate account for yourself and one for the administrator, if your account gets corrupted then you can use the administrator account to either fix the problem or create a new account. Also, make your account an member of the local administrator's group, this will make it easier to add printers and applications without having to log out and log in as the administrator.

A clean install will give you a better experience than an update with old data and apps being preserved. Another way to do a clean install is to buy a new hard drive and remove the old one and use as an external drive with a hard drive to USB adapter. The advantage to this is you would be able to swap the old drive in if you have problems with the installation of Windows 10.
