Rear Camera Not Working

I have a new Lenovo P780, running Android 4.2.1. The rear camera cannot be activated; all that shows when the camera is started is the front, "selfie" camera. I've tried reinstalling the OS and many, many other possibilities (new camera apps, for example). I understand that this is a problem shared by others. Does anyone have a fix for this, or do I send the phone back (it's under warranty)?

I think that you have answered your own question. Given that you said that you have tried numerous possibilities to fix your problem to no avail, cut your losses in time and energy and get a warranty replacement.

I had exactly the same problem. I complained to the seller and they sent me a replacement rear camera, which I installed today. Now it is working. Apparently there may have been a batch of bad rear cameras.

The problem before the fix was that the "selfie" camera would only work; the diagnostics from Lenovo said that the rear camera was not usable. I tried lots of software fixes, and nothing helped. The camera switch from rear to front and back was not shown on the selfie front camera, but once the new rear camera was installed the switch showed and the rear camera works, as I've said.

Bottom line for me: Bad hardware from the git-go.
