Slow coming out of standby or hibernate

Hi. I have an ASUS A52F which I have had for about 5 years. When running it works perfectly, but recently when it goes into standby or hibernate it takes about 5 mins to come back to life ! It has also locked up while trying.

A friend has looked at it and says that the problem is not with the Windows operating system but within the ASUS software.

I have just updated from Windows 7 to 10, but this not changed the symptoms.

Does this make sense and do you have any ideas for a solution ?

Many thanks

Old computers sometimes need a little bit more "umpf" to get them performing well again. If your computer allows it, reboot while mashing delete, F12 or whatever key opens up the BIOS. Load optimized defaults (reset all settings), then try again. If that doesn't work, boot back into Windows, then use the disk defragmentation tool in Windows to defragment the disk. This may take a while, depending on the size of your disk. If that doesn't work, it may be time for a drive upgrade to an SSD.
