To find your IMEI on an iPhone you have several options:
1. Go to the phone dialler and dial *#06#
2. Go to Settings > General > About - Your IMEI number will be displayed there for you.

Think that he means phone doesn't display an IMEI number since it cannot register on any network (stuck on searching for a signal)
