What is the history of this laptop? Can you still boot it up to the operating system? Clicking may be coming from hard drive indicating that the disk header may have crashed (not sure what it's called exactly)

There are a few things that can click . The fan the optical drive and the hard drive . The fan would be a constant clicking all the time the machine is running . The optical drive would be only when there is a disc in th drive and the hard drive would be occasional only when the hard drive was spinning up . To determine the health of your hard drive you can use a program like hard disc sentinal http://www.hdsentinel.com/. You can use the free part of the program to determine the health of the hard drive . If it is the hard drive it would be a good Idea to backup the drive as soon as possible when it does fail you will lose your data . Hope this helps

If the laptop appears to start powering up,clicks and the recycles the power repeatedly, the problem may be related to memory, check memory speed is correct for the laptop.

Check laptop spec sheet for laptop.

I have seen this occur when the wrong speed is installed in Lenovos before.

The other most common problem is the laptop drive is dead, and clicking while trying to locate the MBR.
