My daughters tablet has stopped charging and I am

The charging ports on Samsung tablet contain a plastic tongue lined with metal pins that make connection with corresponding pins on the cable when it is plugged in. I assume these pins are what you are referring to. In answer to your question, earlier Samsung tablet used wide, flat plugs that had 30 pins. Newer one use much narrower micro usb connectors with 5 pins. Either way, the pins are very tiny and I doubt you'd actually be able to count them without the use of a microscope. Still, if the tongue itself is twisted or chipped then thats a good indicator that the port should be replaced
