No Camera, No Bluetooth...

It's a second-hand laptop, and I only discovered that the camera wasn't working after the screen fell off and the camera fell out....

After trying all the online advice without success, I bought and fitted a replacement camera. Still no good, but it's very possible that I broke tiny cable along the way.

I went on to giving the whole machine a thorough dusting, renewing the thermal compounds under the heat sink and replacing the hard drive with an SSD, which made everything fabulous except the camera of course, and also now, there's no Bluetooth!

I would love to be able to fix the camera if at all possible, but what could have happened to the Bluetooth?

I noticed a bit of bare wire on a cable near the Magsafe socket, and covered it with electrical tape.... Could that be the problem? Do I need to replace that cable?

Please help....

Answer this question I have this problem too

Yes, it does sound like the cable to the display is damaged which can explain why both the Bluetooth & camera aren't working.

Here's the guide you'll need to follow: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2008 and Early 2009 AirPort/iSight Cable Replacement.

Thank you Dan for your reply and the link.

I'll order a new cable (and camera!) and let you know how it goes!
