Screen on the iPhone 3g I bought got lighter & lighter & lighter....

I have an iPhone 3G 16 GB Black model. The screen began to lighten up on me a few month's ago and since then it has totally whited out. I can hear the phone ring, can hear my text message and voice mail alerts, but I can't see them to access them. I saw that you guys have a front panel kit or just the front panel for replacements parts. Would replacing the front panel resolve this issue, or should I just get rid of the phone and get a new one? I'd like to be able to repair it, instead of having to pay full price for a new one or upgrade to the 3GS, I like the 3G just fine.

Any chance its ever had contact with water?

No contact with water that I can tell, the water damage indicator has not reacted so I don't think that is the case.

I suggest you replace the display assembly- as I suggested above.

It seems there are have some problem with your LCD. But before that,you can check if the flex cable was loose or what ?
