How hot is too hot

is 80-85C a dangerous temperature for the mac to run on, for long hours ?

Its a early MBP retina 13" 2015, i5 core, 8 GB RAM, 128 GB flash storage. I play a browser game called "Darkorbit" and Im worried when it reachers 80 C

That temperature is fine, my 15" MBP runs that about 8 hours per day, youtube and playing games pushes the temp up higher than just browsing etc

Make sure you dont keep it on your Lap at those temperatures to avoid injury.

The MBP has a failsafe that shuts it off when it gets too hot.

You can install software like SMCFanControl that will increase the minimal fan speeds, what this does is keeps the CPU's cooler and when they do work, don't get as hot as quickly.

Im just worried if it will have any long term damage done to it, when running on 80-90C, thanks for your reply, Im less worried now :)

I would recommend this fan & temp sensor software over SMCFanControl. It also allows you to let the system manage the temp and only jump in when it gets on the hot side: TG Pro.
