Can I Switch a PS3's Hard Drive?

My 60 GB PS3 got the yellow light of death, so I am considering getting another one and switching the hard drives. Could I play the games and access the save data from the last PS3's hard drive if I put it in the new PS3?

I don't think you will run to any problems doing so, especially if you switch to another PS3 of the same model or similar. I would still recommend backing up your HDD first. If you are switching to a slim, I would recommend just transferring your save files via USB, and re-download any installed games.
