Problem Repairing Vizio e470va

I just received a replacement main board today and I'm still not seeing a picture on my TV. before i replaced the main board i could see a picture using a flashlight, same as the new main board. . I also looked at the power supply and there is a swollen compacitor and on the inverter board there is 2 blown compacitors. Is it the inverter board or power supply thats causing the problem?

Hi,

Swollen and blown capacitors, wherever they are located is not good. I suggest that you replace any and all that you can see before you go to the trouble of getting replacement boards.

Swollen / blown (faulty in other words) capacitors especially in the power areas of any board (not just the power supply board) but also those connected across the power rails on other boards can detrimentally affect the voltage that is necessary for correct function of components.

Capacitors fail for a variety of reasons (under rated in temperature is usually the main cause if they are running close to their max rating, the same with voltage rating, also cheap quality brand or known product batch failure) and unless they fail very shortly (even say up to 12 months) after replacement it is deemed uneconomic to find out why.
