While priming Barista its shut down

Tried to prime after long period of non use. Wasn't able to prime even following ideas on this page. Then the machine just cut out. Lights on but pump not working at all. Machine felt hot on top. Have turned off hoping it's an overheating protection. Suggestions?

Update (02/13/2016)

Happy to say that after letting the machine cool down, I opened it up and cleaned out the intake line. I then plugged it in and it turned on again! That was a relief. Then I used a small syringe to shoot water into the intake tube with the pump running as I had tried before. Apparently, this time I was able to get enough water in to start the prime. I was able to run water through the wand and then I knew I'd gotten it! Drinking a nice latte, first in a while, as I type. Thanks for all who contribute the good advice that is on the site.

The pump has an over-temperature protection thermostat on it; if you let it run for a long time with no water passing through then it's possible this is what tripped and killed the power. Once the pump cooled down the thermostat reset and it was able to run again. Glad you got it working!
