montanamandesame start by cleaning the dock connector and check for bend or corroded pins. Then try a different cable. If neither one of those should work, replace the battery and re-evaluate. Here is the guide for that

Do you have a different cable you could test with? Also, does this happen when using USB and a wall outlet?
