Where is the SSD HD located?

Hi!

So I bought a new laptop Asus N551V which comes with 1TB HD and 128G SSD Drives. After few days the screen started to flick and it appears the cable to the screen is not working properly. No worries, the guy in the store offered to immediately give me a new laptop - the problem is that I already installed all my stuff (I'm a developer and I have a lot of software) so I thought why not just replace the HDs to the new computer?

But I cannot find the SSD drive. It is not located near the 1TB HD which is very simple to extract (you just need to open a small cover and not the whole computer). The thing is, I don't really want to open the whole thing as it will cancel the warranty...

Am I missing something? Can I easily extract the SSD drive?

Thanks,

Tal

Rather than worrying about removing the drives why not just clone the drives.

It's an option I considered but I'm not sure it will work. I have multiple partition on the regular one and the SSD is running dual boot Windows and Ubuntu...

I thought the easiest option will be to just replace the HDs

Im not 100% sure but if the machine has a duel hard drive setup its usually going to have an the ssd as part of the board or the optical drive will be gone and the ssd will be there

clonezilla can clone complete drives partitions

Hi,

Here is a link which shows where it is in an Asus X550. I think that yours will probably be the same.

The laptop is indeed very similar with the easy access to the regular HD, but the video shows how he is replacing the DVD with an SSD drive.

I have regular HD with additional SSD drive with DVD.

So where is my SSD drive?

Is it hooked up to the mother board with no easy access?

Thanks,

Tal
