DVD plays sound but no picture

The DVD plays sound but there is no picture. I replaced the HDMI cable and the problem remains. If I unhook the Bose system and install a different DVD player directly to my TV, I get both the sound and the picture

Hi,

Has it worked before? If not have you set it for the correct video format for the TV, NTSC or PAL?

Go to Settings > System Setup> Video Format. Select option appropriate for your TV.

Yes then it was disconnected now it's hooked up again it's not working

Have you checked that the connections are correct by following the directions in the User Guide in the link just above.

When you say it's not working, what is the problem? No power, No sound, no picture, what devices are you trying to connect to it and through it?

Hi @mcperkins ,

just because there is no display when a DVD is playing doesn't necessarily mean that there is no display when the player's menu options have been selected.

It could just mean that there is no dvd video output from the player for whatever reason

Possible reasons:

  • The connection uses a HDMI-to-DVI adapter.
  • The connection uses a HDMI-to-DVI cable.
  • The TV may not be set to the appropriate HDMI video input.
  • You are trying to play a MPEG2 Program Stream (PS) file.
  • The HDMI cable may be faulty.
  • Now, it’s not difficult to troubleshoot the DVD playing without sound issue.
