Problem charging and battery overheats

I have a Samsung Galaxy S3. Every time I plug the cord in it says that the battery is overheating. I believe it's the dock connector. And I know that updating to the next Android, I believe Jelly Bean, was the latest, the sd card become corrupted. Would it be easier for me to get another Samsung Galaxy S3 -1535 and use it or get the dock connector fixed.

Answer this question I have this problem too

@joshuawishon overheating of the battery is most likely not caused by a bad connector. The place to start would be with the battery itself. Replace the battery and if that does not help, then you are having issues with the charging circuit (power management IC) on the motherboard.

It's definitely not the battery. I got a new one and the same thing.
