MacBook Pro 2012 with USB 2.0 ports only

Hi,

I swapped the logic board of my early 2011 MBP 13" for a mid 2012 one.

The plus of such upgrading are better cpu, graphics and USB 3.0.

Everything runs fine but the usb ports show up in the "system information" as USB 2.0 ports instead of 3.0 and the transfer speeds are also slow (2.0).

The USB ports came are part of the logic board, they should be faster and recognized as 3.0 in the system.

Can someone give me some clues about what is happening?

Thanks in advance.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Can you give me the model identifier on About this mac ,system information please. It's possible you don't have a 2012 model.

Hi John, Thanks for your answer. The model identifier is "MacBookPro9,2". The computer "started" as a Macbook Pro 13"inch, early 2011 that clearly only have usb 2.0 ports. After the original logic board died, I swapped it for one from a mid 2012 13" MBP. The 2012 models already have usb 3.0. I now have a faster cpu and graphic card but not faster usb. I don't understand why because the usb ports came as part of the logic board. I hope I answered your question.
