Dead Screen but responds in itunes

My Ipod Classic screen is not showing anything, but when plugged in to my windows computer itunes does recognize it. It keeps getting put into recovery mode. I'm able to reset it and use it from my computer, but there is still no response from the screen on the ipod itself.
