Screen flickers - wacking it fixes - sometimes

Hello all

I have a MacBook Air mid 2011 with a flickering screen.

This has been going on for quite awhile, but sometimes when I turn the laptop on the screen is grey, and if I twist the screen one way or the other I can usually fix it, however, just hitting it or moving, will cause it to go grey again, or a line 2/3rds down horizontal will appear with the bottom grey, and above in color.

Obviously not a software issue, but wondering if anyone has come across this, and is it a loose wire, or is it in the display.

Hi Rob,

Do you have a 11" Air or a 13" Air? The flickering could simply be the result of a loose connection. I'd recommend removing the lower case to make sure the display cable is fully seated. You'll need a pentalobe driver, follow the first three steps of this guide to remove the case and disconnect the battery, then you can use steps 19 and 20 to disconnect and reseat the display cable. If that doesn't work, the cable itself may be damaged, so you may have to replace the display, you can follow the 11" display replacement guide or the 13" display replacementguide. Good luck!

Found the issue was a loose connection inside the display assembly. Rather than take that apart I just bought a new one - worked fine. Thanks.
