Hi,
Use a 10.6 install disc and from the installer go Utilities > Password reset to reset an account password this will let you know login. I would recommend after changing the password that you reset the permissions of the folder. It will be the button underneath the password reset box.
Any questions just comment back :)

Will that work on all Macs? Or do you think you should find out what machine is being used before popping out an answer?
I've used it on at least three version of OSX and its worked might be worth a try
hi the screen says," enter your system lock pin code to unlock this mac". Apple MacBook Pro "Core i5" 2.5 13" Mid-2012 can i just buy a new hard drive? problem fixed?
To continue from my original answer, if you follow Bradley's comment regarding removing a stick of RAM and then turning the machine on whilst holding the OPT + key and boot onto the 10.6 install disc your be able to reset the firmware password as its just below the user password reset.
Turn off computer
Turn on + hold down option key
Select recovery boot
Follow instructions to install OS X over old copy.

? for EFI Lock?
The real and only answer is replacing the bios EFI chip with a clean me region reprogrammed chip .
If you are not a programmer then best bet is to find a company who offers EFI unlocks.
