3DS - fully charged battery - only plays on charger

My daughter's 3DS would work fine when on charge but would die as soon as the charger was unplugged. I installed a new battery and charged. Now, it continues to work fine on the charger and die as soon as removed. I checked voltage on the battery with a multimeter and am seeing 3.7V from (+) to (-) terminal or (+) to center terminal. With new battery installed, I see no voltage across the cradle terminals. Battery terminal contacts on both battery and device look good. Could this be a problem with one of the internal fuses? Is this a common problem? Thanks!

Answer this question I have this problem too

You've most likely got an ex-display 3DS. There have been a large batch floating around erroneously sold as faulty when in fact they were designed to turn off when disconnected from the charger, possibly as an anti-theft measure. I've just ordered a replacement battery terminal as I believe Nintendo have simply disabled the console's ability to draw power from the battery - the battery does charge though. I have ruled out software causing this problem. I'll let you know how I get on.

Have you found a solution? A new battery did not work either
