How do I erase my hard drive?

My IMac's logic board has died. The folks at the Apple tech center suggested selling it to someone who enjoys working on this edition. How do I erase the hard drive? The tech said to "just take it out" but I figure a purchaser would like to have it. All the components are in very good condition.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Your original "fair price?" question wasn't really repair-related, but the hard drive question is definitely valid! You can scout Ebay and the such for finding out how much your computer is worth (or to buy a replacement logic board).

if you have access to another computer, you can purchase a USB to SATA adapter (like this: http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Newer%20T... ) and reformat the drive (or keep as a backup of your data).

If you don't have such access, perhaps the tech you spoke with can assist?

Use the linux command dd or shred to wipe your disk:
