Sad, sad beat up screen

Hi everybody,

My poor old iMac has gotten pretty beat up over the years, at this point it's looking preeety sad. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or suggestions on possible cheap fixes or things that might help keep it chugging just a little longer. I'm very very not tech savvy & tend to break things (obviously, heh). It's an iMac 21.5", Model #A1311, purchased in 2009

I was thinking of wrapping electrical tape around the exposed edges of the screen, I have no idea if that'd help or at least make it, I dunno, "look" a little nicer, such as it is. Thanks again.

That iMacs been rode hard and put up wet. Here's a really good guide to get you started: iMac LCD Cleanup

You might be able to find a cheap glass replacement on eBay. It's Apple part no. 922-9117

Thanks so much for your response. I'm not sure if it's worth replacing the glass due to the vertical stripes on the monitor. I'm not sure what the cause of those is & I don't have an extra monitor or the right cables to try to see if it could be "fixed" using a dual monitor approach.
