I have tried to do something similar trying to increase my RAM. I contacted ASUS support just to get even more mad that this issue exists. After the guy disconnected with me while asking if there was anything else he could help me with I just said to myself "I have built a computer from scratch before so I am pretty tech savvy." <---Note the comment... I do not recommend going through the steps I did to try and find a solution because I am 95% sure you will not find a different result from me in the fact that there is no cure to a small 2gb RAM or the standard 32gb HDD/SDD. After I removed the bottom plate (1) this is what I found. So I attempted to remove the battery (2) and this is what I found. (Note in the second picture there are a lot of different connections that even made me hesitant to attempt to remove them). Also in image(2) I was going to attempt to remove the motherboard which is circuit board on the right of the image. This is where I stopped because after removing all connections from the motherboard I found that it was not going to budge and I wasn't sure which adapters (micro sd card reader, mini hdmi port, 3.5mm audio/mic port) were attached and it would be a pain to get those all back in if they came free. This is where I said I am getting past a lot of the stuff that I remember from 12 years ago. I am going to attempt to mark up the first drawing again to label the parts as I know them and what I believe the others are for all intensive purposes. In the markup of the parts the reason I believe that to be the RAM is because I saw the name "SK Hynix" on it and this is a company that only makes RAM chipsets. I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news on this but it is the truth as far as I got. I know I did a lot of searching also to find help to alleviate the issue and the most clear answer I could find was that there weren't many customizable things to be done to this notebook and I believe what they mean was there are NO customizable things to be done to this notebook aside from choosing a pretty color when you buy it. (Note that I didn't even get this option because I was the last in line to get one on the release day of it). I can't post the images here but if I am able to on my profile I will do so and list them as follows:

(1) All

(2) Removed Battery

(3) Detail

Sincerely

Dustin

Hi there,

Under the laptop there is usually 1 or 2 small hatches with a few screws. One usually houses RAM, the other the hard drive. Unscrew the screws securing the hard drive and replace with a new one. You will then need a windows install disc handy to reinstall the operating system.

Good Luck

Comments:

The laptop in question, EeeBook X205TA, has no latches to unscrew. In order for him to get inside he would need to removed the four rubber pads on the bottom and remove the crews underneath. From there he would need to pry the laptop open. However with this particular model everything is pre-soddered so upgrades aren't possible to begin with.

Hi pinedajomer,

Here is a link that shows X205T screen replacement. It may be useful to look at.

Pretty simple. You can use the microSD card to store all your important files. And also install any apps. Works with windows 8 and windows 10! http://www.pcworld.com/article/2931453/h...

I'm using the microSD card to store my files but have been unable to get Windows 10 to update. I was able to get it upgraded to Windows 10 eventually but can't remember how I was able to get that accomplished now. Suggestions on how to get programs updated (aka to have them "look" at the SD card)?

All report say that the X205TA has everything SOLDERED in place.

No user serviceable, etc..

Ps.. Avoid the BIOS UPDATE, it bricks them
