Why is my new battery not being recognized?

Bought a new battery from iFixit. Battery not being recognized. Went through all recommended steps for fix on iFixit and Mac support pages.

Update (11/19/2015)

The original battery swelled a couple years ago. Finally have a use for the old computer and was trying to make it usable again. Is the swollen battery a likely symptom of your motherboard theory? It was recognized, just wasn't functional.

Thx

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

If you had a battery not being recognized, replaced it, and still have the same issue then the issue lies within the motherboard, not the battery.

Update (11/19/2015)

Check the cycle count inside OS X if you are able to. If it doesn't show up then I would just double check the battery connection and make sure its plugged in all the way. Might sound kinda dumb but you'd be surprised at the simple things that can end up being solutions :) Also check for corrosion on the connection points and clean off with alcohol if you see any. Make sure the device is turned off during all of this.
