Why does the sleep function doesn't work anymore?

Hello iFixers,

I have a problem.

I replaced a LCD screen from a Macbook Pro.

The lcd was defect, so i bought a used product from the Ebay:

A1278 EMC 2326 GENUINE APPLE LCD DISPLAY 13.3 ASSEMBLY A1278 EMC 2326

When i received the screen i noticed that the text on the screen was 'Macbook' and not 'Macbook Pro'. The connection are all the same and the screen does work. But the sleep function doesn't work. If i close the screen, the light stays on.

What could be the problem?

Please let me know

Thanx !

Hello, this sounds like the activation magnet in the screen has slipped. You can test by getting any magnet, and holding it on the far right edge of the MBP, about 3.5 inches from the front (just below the speaker grille).

If applying a magnet to that spot does nothing for the screen then the magnet has possibly slipped when you were disassembling it.

I appreciate your response.

Is this what you mean? I made a video for you.

NB

I put the broken screen again and the sleep function does work on the old screen.

How is this possible?
