Screen is black but services are working

I dropped my phone in water and quickly removed it and wiped it down. I then let it sit in the sun for 48 hours to make sure there were no more water droplets inside the screen and they all seemed to evaporate. I put in a new battery and the phone turned on and I am receiving text messages, etc. but I can only see the display when it is under a lamp. How can I fix this?

Options

You should take the phone to a repair shop and have them address the water damage first. If that doesn't fix the issue, then you'll need a new LCD. Your backlight is out.
