Smoking after changing the oil

While changing the oil the 18hp Briggs was tipped with the carburetor up after it smokes and runs poorly . What should be done if the oil is now in places it should not be? Let it sit for a day?

marc, the tipping most likely caused oil to get into the combustion chamber etc. Yes, let it sit for a while and then just run it. It will smoke until all the oil is burned off. Of course, you do want to make sure that you have enough oil in the engine:-)
