This may sound dumb but I am a novice. I keep reading about RAW files being better than jpeg and would like to know if my camera can be set up for RAW shooting.

Hi,
Unfortunately your camera does not support RAW format.

Here is the user manual for your camera. If you scroll to p121 you will see in the specifications that for still pictures it only supports .jpeg format (compressed) whereas RAW is uncompressed.
