Your system has a SATA II (3.0 Gb/s) HD interface. The drive you get needs to work at this I/O speed make sure the spec sheet of the drive you get states it clearly it is compatible.

There are both traditional HD's, hybrid SSHD's and SSD's that will work in your system.

I recommend going with a SSHD as your best first choice it offers the benefit of a deeper SSD based cache so the system will boot up more quickly and also offer deeper storage like a traditional HD. I like the Seagate Laptop SSHD 1 TB unit.

If storage space is not a concern you could also go with a SSD. These devices are solid state (no moving parts) so they do hold up better. But they are tend to be smaller and more costly! I like the Samsung 850 EVO SSD. I would recommend going with a 512 GB unit or larger.

The drives size is a 2.5" x 9.5 mm laptop drive.
